Write for us
Open Culture Journal welcomes pitches that make a cultural question sharper rather than merely broader. We are interested in clear, original work about customs, ideas, institutions, media and objects, written for curious general readers.
What makes a strong pitch
Send a focused proposal that names the question, explains why it matters and sketches the answer or tension the piece will explore. Include the intended reader, likely structure and any sources or examples central to the approach. A pitch should show what your framing adds, not just name a large subject.
The work we value
We favour precise explanations, careful comparisons and arguments that acknowledge limits. Avoid sweeping claims about entire cultures, unsupported generalisations and pitches that depend on a personal credential or access claim. Tell us if the idea has been published or offered elsewhere.
Send a proposal
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option to submit a pitch. Please send a proposal rather than a completed article unless we have requested one; we will consider fit, clarity and distinctness from work already planned.
